Covid-19

Quinta Jacintina has operated as a Boutique hotel staffed 24 hours a day. However as a result of Covid – 19, we are changing our mode of operanti for JUNE 2020 - April 2021 and potentially longer term as a result of the virus.  We have taken steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Guests and Staff in line with guidelines issued by Tourism Portugal. There are now 10 rooms available for bed and breakfast. The prices have been substantially reduced to take account of the reduced services we provide.

HOTEL INFORMATION

2021

Welcome to Quinta Jacintina – My Secret Garden Hotel, the Algarve’s renowned boutique hotel. A few minutes spent reading through this information and guide will hopefully make your stay with us all the more comfortable and enjoyable. If there is anything else we can do to help, please do not hesitate to contact Reception.

Hours of Hotel operation

The hotel is staffed or a member of staff is on call 24 hours a day.
The reception is open from 8am – 8pm daily.
If the reception is closed, please follow the instructions on the reception desk.

Check in – Check Out

Check in: 15h00 – 20h00. Check out: 11h00
Late check out is possible when available, by prior agreement only.

Early Departure
If you are due to depart before the reception opens in the morning at 8am we would respectfully request that your account is settled before 8pm the previous evening.

Payment of Accounts

Contactless payments are preferred where possible.
Accounts may be settled with cash in Euros, bank transfer, debit card or by any of the recognized credit cards. Cheques are no longer accepted for payment of accounts.
If you require your invoice to be divided between rooms or have any other special billing requirements, please notify Reception in advance

Additional charges

In the event that the Hotel is asked to arrange goods or services from external suppliers such as flowers, dry cleaning, birthday cakes, etc, there will be a 15% service charge.

The maximum number of guests per bedroom is two. A child of 2 years old or under may stay in their parents’ room free of charge in a cot or small put up bed. One child over the age of 2 years old may stay in a put up bed at an additional charge of 20 euros per night.

Booking conditions

The conditions are dependent on the method of booking
When booked direct with the hotel, Reservations must be confirmed with a 50% deposit.
All deposits are non-refundable but may be transferable depending on availability.
When booked with Booking.com or AirBnB, please refer to these companies booking terms and conditions.

Pets

It may be possible to accommodate pets but an additional charge is made of 5 euros per night by prior arrangement. We ask guests to ensure that dogs are kept on the floor at all times and not allowed on furniture. It may be possible for pets to be allowed in the communal areas providing there is no objection from other guests. Guests will need to bring their own bowls, beds and feed. We also ask that all dog excrement is dealt with promptly.

Vanity kits

In reception there are vanity kits available, which consist of

  • a) Shoe polish, and buff
  • b) Sewing kit
  • c) Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • d) Razors and shaving gel
  • e) Nail file and cotton wool buds

In line with Portuguese law, this establishment has a complaints book

Dress code

We would ask you to respect our dress code. Swimwear is not appropriate in the lounge, dining room or bar, but may be worn on the outside terraces.

Electricity

The electrical current is 220 volts AC and connection is made by a two-pin plug. Overseas visitors will need to bring adaptors.

Switching off lights when not required

  • If you wish for your bedlinen to be changed, please leave the card provided on the bed.
  • If you wish for your towels to be changed, please leave the towels in the Bath.
  • Please turn off air conditioning/heating when you are not in your room or the doors of your room are left open.  When you are out in the day and evenings, if the units are left on, they will automatically be turned off after a period of time. We hope you will understand our request and policy but assure you that the air conditioning units are very efficient and the rooms cool down or heat up very quickly.

Insurance

The hotel company and staff are not responsible for any accident or loss of any personal property.

Cars are parked at their owners risk. It is recommended that guests arrange for their own holiday insurance.

Internet Access

Quinta Jacintina offers free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Search for the Network ‘Jacintina’ and the passcode is ‘abradadabra’.

Guest Accommodation

Air-conditioning, heating and ceiling fans

Each bedroom has air conditioning or heating and ceiling fans and guests can control the temperature of their room. We ask guests to respect our environmental friendly policies and to please make sure to turn off air conditioning or heating when you are not in the room. The rooms cool very quickly so there is no need to leave the air conditioning on. Also, to please make sure  doors or windows are closed, when the air conditioning is on.  There is no point in having the air conditioning on if you have windows and doors open!

Bathroom Drains

The Drainage and Sewage systems become easily blocked. There are bins provided in each bathroom. Please avoid blockages by not putting any products other than toilet paper down the toilet.

Do not disturb

A notice is behind your door. If used, please remove when leaving the room

Hairdryers

You will find a hairdryer in the dressing table or the top drawer of your wardrobe

Key Cards

Upon your arrival you will have been given two electronic cards, which give you access to your room, the front door, and the main gate.

Mini Bar

A list of products and prices is on the mini-bar cabinet

Office Amenities

In the manual located in your room there is paper and envelope. On the bedside table there is a notepad andpencil or pen. For more information please contact reception.

Room equipment and Accessories

The rooms are equipped with various equipment at your disposal, such as: Each room has a mirror, hairdryer, bathrobe, laundry bags, bathroom mat and trash. Each room has a bathroom with toilet, sink, bidet, washbasin, towel rails and shower with bath or separate shower. Make-up mirror, mirror lighting, towels and towel warmer.

Molton Brown gel soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Room Safes and Deposit of Securities in the Reception

Each room is equipped with an electronic safe, with instructions for use. Please check that you take all your belongings on departure. Please place valuables in the safe. Note that management is not responsible for goods or valuables left in your room or in the safe in the reception.

Tea or Coffee

All the bedrooms have tea and coffee making facilities. The tea and coffee provided is complimentary. Extra coffee capsules are available but will be charged.

Television

Your room is equipped with a flatscreen TV . The TV has a firestick fitted that gives countless channels and movies

Switch on TV using the LG remote control.

Make sure the Source is HDM2

The fire stick will then automatically be loaded.

Use the Firestick remote to download ZPIROZ TV.

Follow the ZPIROZ menu to choose channels.

Alternatively load Netflix.

Towels

We provide a face, hand, bath and pool towel per person.

Health and Safety

Doctor

We have arrangements with a local English-speaking doctor who is available by appointment and on call 24 hours a day for emergencies.

Emergency

In case of emergency, telephone 112 for the Portuguese emergency services

Also contact reception or the person on call. This person will call 112 on the phone for the emergency services if you are unable to do so.

Fire

In case of fire, please see instructions by the door of your room.

Fire Alarm Testing

For safety precautions and legal requirement, we are required to test our fire alarms. All guests will be warned of this in advance. If you hear the alarm and have not been warned, please treat this as a genuine alarm and head to a safety point.

Infection control Information for guests

As a result of Covid – 19 there is a separate information sheet for guests that we would like you to read and observe the policies of the hotel. There are specific instructions regarding the swimming pool that may or may not be applicable during 2021 and we will update our policies in line with Portuguese legislation.

Security

Your safety is guaranteed by CCTV 24 hours a day. Please note that management is not responsible for goods or valuables left in your room, left out of the safe and are not responsible for damage to the cars in the car park at the hotel.

Swimming Pool

The outdoor pool is available from 9am – 6pm.

Please note:

Towels are provided by the swimming pool.

There are pool changing rooms and toilets close to the Terrace

Please use the shower at the poolside prior to swimming

The swimming pool can be heated for exclusive use bookings for the whole hotel at 750 euros a week

The pool is NOT life guarded.

Please follow these safety guidelines:

  • The pool has a varied depth up to 2m. Diving and jumping in are strictly prohibited
  • Children under the age of 15 are strictly forbidden to use the pool unattended
  • No more than 18 people should use the pool at any one time
  • Please report any breakages around the pool as soon as possible
  • For the safety of children the pool is fenced off but not from all bedrooms. Please make sure the gates are kept closed.
  • Do not use the pool after a meal or after consuming alcohol

Quinta Jacintina organizes Duplicate Bridge on Monday afternoons at 14:30pm

Housekeeping

The room cleaning service starts at 7:30, if you want your room is cleaned at a specific time, please inform the reception.

Laundry & Pressing Service

This service is available every day and you will find a price list attached herein. Please ask for details from reception. We also have available an iron and ironing board for use in the rooms if you prefer. We may also arrange for dry cleaning, please ask at reception. Note that management is not responsible for goods or valuables left in the care of laundry.

Lost property

If you have mislaid any of your belongings please contact Reception

Luggage

We offer a luggage porter service and luggage storage. Please note that management is not responsible for goods or valuables left in your baggage in your room or in the baggage room.

Mail, E-mail & Fax

Mail, E-mail and fax facilities are available. Please enquire at reception.

Maintenance

Should you experience any difficulties with any aspect of your room, please report to Reception

Newspapers & Magazines

Please order newspapers or magazines through Reception. These will be added to your room bill. However we will request payment in cash for these sundry items

Up to A4 paper size copying is available at Reception

Shoe-shine services should be requested with reception the day before

The reception will be pleased to assist you in making you travel arrangements

Food and Beverages

Bar

At certain times of the year and on certain days, our Bar will not be attended by a Bartender and we hope you will make the most of the Honesty Bar of the Quinta Jacintina and its relaxed atmosphere that is an invitation to take it easy and enjoy a drink!

A bar without a bartender

Halfway between a traditional bar and an in-room mini-bar, the Honesty Bar is becoming more and more popular, especially in boutique hotels where conviviality is king. In our bar you can choose from a varied menu of drinks and serve yourself. It is then up to you to make a note of the drinks you have consumed, and these will be billed to you by the reception. It’s contract of trust is between the Hotel and our guests, who we wish to feel completely at home. Our Honesty bar is stocked with popular beverages, mixers and the prices are less than when the Bar is attended by a Bartender.

Please note it is not authorized by law for children under 18 years old to purchase or drink alcohol.

Breakfast

The rates per room per night for double occupancy in either a double or companion bed include continental buffet breakfast in the dining room or your own room between the hours of 8am and 11am. You may wish to upgrade to a cooked breakfast at an additional cost.

Dining

The terrace/dining room is open for breakfast, and lunch only every day as required.

Our Restaurant

The restaurant will, until further notice, be operating at 50% of capacity both inside and outside on the terrace. Our programme for the Summer of 2021 is as follows:

Picnic Hampers

We will be happy to provide a picnic hamper. Please speak to Reception but we would ask at least 12 hours notice for this service.

Please note that food and drink purchased from outside the hotel may not be consumed in any communal areas of the hotel, including the swimming pool area.

There is a bank at the Bouganvillea Shopping Centre in Quinta do Lago, opening hours are Monday to Friday: 08.30-15.00. Closed on weekends and bank holidays

Beauty and Spa Treatments

We can recommend numerous excellent beauticians and Spas in the area.  Please contact reception if you wish to book a treatment.

Bicycles

Bicycles can be rented locally and Reception will be pleased to arrange this for you.

Car Hire

Car hire, at advantageous rates, can be arranged through reception.

Other Sports & Activities

Many other sporting activities are available in the locality, i.e. horse riding, water sports, boat trips, nature walks, bicycle hire, etc. Please enquire at reception for leaflets or further information.

Post Offices

There is a post office in Almancil and another next to the golf driving range in Quinta do Lago. Opening hours are Monday to Friday: 09.00-18.00.

The Faro airport post office may be open on Saturdays.

Pharmacy/Farmacia

The local pharmacy is open all day, every day except Sundays. Others operate on roster system, but one is usually open through the night and on holidays. Please enquire at reception for information

Shops/Lojas

Local shops opening hours generally are: 08.30-13.00 / 15.00-19.00, but in the large shopping centres, shops may stay open much later.

Taxi or Private Transportation

There is a taxi service available at all times, please enquire at Reception.
